Update on "Juggalos in the Mist" Youtube series!

Some of you may have noticed that we posted the 2nd episode of the "Juggalos in the Mist" web series that we started talking about back in September. We got a pilot episode out of it, and then helped raise enough cash for the cast and crew to shoot an entire 10 episode web series! Nearly 3 months has passed, and we didn't hear anything about it. Some of you may have forgotten about it altogether. Well, that's where we come in! Paul Schipper, the creator of the series, emailed me today with a status update that covers everything from their trials and tribulations of making the 2nd episode, to getting re-motivated to finish the project. Instead of paraphrasing, I'll just post what was said below:
So I came to you four months ago asking for your help on film project I decided to undertake. I made a kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/62935855/juggalos-in-the-mist?ref=live I made a Pilot Episode:For those of you who missed the 2 episodes that have been released so far, here are links to both:
And with the help of a ton of good folks I got that kickstarter funded. And then I fell off the face of the earth as far as you guys were concerned. That was three months ago. I got a new job. My roommate moved out. My best friend and his fiance broke up. My best friend moved in with me. My relationship started getting rocky. My best friend and I almost started a business but then decided against it. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and you hadn't heard a peep from me. But through all that stuff we were working on Episode 2. It was severely hampered by all of those things as well as a lot of production issues. About 40% of Episode 2 takes place in a car with a conversation between our main character Brandon Ullman and a tag along friend. We learn a lot about Brandon's past in that portion. The only problem is, the car belongs to a friend of mine who lives an hour and a half away. And we live in South Dakota where the interstates frequently close due to snowfall. So we had severely limited access to filming in his vehicle. When we finally got access to the vehicle we had trouble lighting it properly, worse yet we shot the whole thing slightly out of focus. Not on purpose it's just kind of hard to figure out if you're fully in focus on the t3i's tiny lcd screens to begin with, and the way we were shooting in the car made it even more difficult to determine. This resulted in the first batch of car footage being useless. So now we had to reshoot all that material with a set piece that we had little control of. Basically a nightmare. A lot of people asked why we didn't just use a different car or write the original car out of it, but all of those things would have cheapened it a bit and also ruin the story in upcoming episodes. Eventually we did get it reshot, and I'm glad we did because it would have looked awful before. You can see a bit of the original footage at the end of the credits. Worse yet I’ve been procrastinating because of reasons I can’t even figure out for myself. Partially because of how drawn out this has been compared to how I wanted it to be, partially because I’m kind of a lazy guy when there isn’t a fire burning underneath me. That was a self made delay. My fault, not a busted render, not a continuity error, no broken camera, just me not being on front street with you guys. I redoubled my efforts two weeks ago and edited until we had a finished product. Got our music lined up with an artist that reached out to us (Stir Crazy at stircrazy.bandcamp.com/music) and really made an effort to get Episode 2 done in a timely manner. So my dedication has been sporadic, which isn’t fair to our audience or the people in my life. Sometimes I would be hellbent on getting stuff done and push away the people I love and other times I would become self absorbed and ignore my task at hand. I guess what I’m saying with this update is that life can sometimes get in the way of art and inspiration. It’s dangerous to let it do that, but equally dangerous to let your art get in the way of your life. There’s this delicate balance and instead of finding it I’ve been walking back and forth on the see saw by myself. The good news is that Episode 2 is now done and principle photography on Episode 3 is 40% done. And we’re in a really good position to crank out the episodes at a much faster rate than two every four months. Big thanks to Scottie D obviously for his continuous support and not making a big deal about the fact that we were too tired to remember to put him in the credits this time!
