Kevin Wierzbicki, who is a contributor for AXS recently had the chance to interview Monoxide of Twiztid.
In this interview Monoxide discusses the recently released Twiztid album "Mutant: Remixed & Remastered," food, Detroit sports and more.
The full interview can be read below.
Juggalos rejoice! Twiztid have just released a new album and Madrox and Monoxide are also about to embark on the Juggalo Invasion tour. The new album will be somewhat familiar to Twiztid fans as it is a reworking of the Detroit duo’s smash Mutant record, totally reinvented by longtime Twiztid producer Michael “Seven” Summers and up-and-coming production star Michael Rideout, and released as Mutant: Remixed & Remastered. The Juggalo Invasion tour begins March 23 with a string of Canadian dates before U.S. shows begin in Seattle on Apr. 9. Special guests on the jaunt will include Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Boondox, Lex the Hex Master, Trelogy, and on U.S. dates only, Davey Suicide. We had a chance to have an email chat with Monoxide and while talking about the new record we also found out that he is as adept in the kitchen as he is on stage. Monoxide’s commentary is below and is given exclusively to AXS.com. AXS: Mutant: Remixed & Remastered has just dropped. As you were in the process of reimagining Mutant, which songs surprised you the most as to what you hear in the new versions? Monoxide: The entire CD was a surprise. We knew we wanted to change the entire atmosphere of the CD and by the magic of our ninjas we did it! AXS: Has the new version of Mutant caused you to tweak the way you’ll be performing any of the songs live on your next tour? M: It completely changes the performance. When you change the dynamic of a song it puts a new feel on it, reinvigorated to a point that it is like a brand new song. So the performance can't be the same. AXS: There’s been lots of food talk on the Twiztid Facebook page lately. What kind of food and drink do you have in your rider now, and what are some of the most memorable joints you’ve eaten in while on tour? M: We are immense foodies! Our rider is full of groceries because I cook a lot on tour. I fancy myself a bit of a rolling chef, lol! There's a place called Zombie Burger that is insanely delicious. Cap'n Crunch milkshakes and home cut fries! There aren't many so if you see one take advantage! AXS: You’re offering a VIP meet-and-greet at stops on your upcoming Juggalo Invasion tour. What can fans who purchase this option expect? M: Our VIP is unlike any other that's available from any artist in the business. 95% of artist meet-and-greets are nothing more than a bag of free junk, a picture of but not with, no touching the artist, one autograph, etc. Ours is the ultimate Twiztid experience. No limit on autographs and you have to beat Madrox and me off of ya. It's supposed to be an experience not a letdown, so we are extremely conscious of that. AXS: Next year will be the 20th anniversary for Twiztid. Are you thinking of anything yet to celebrate your two-decade mark? M: Nothing we can share right now but yes there is something ridiculous in the works. AXS: Would you care to give a shout-out to anything Detroit? Are you excited about the Detroit Tigers this year? M: I'm always excited about Detroit sports. I'm a huge sports nerd and Madrox loves the comics and toys. I played baseball and basketball for 20 years. I was going to college to play basketball but Madrox had this idea and here we are. Hope you're here with us as well. Find more Twiztid info including tour dates here.
