06/23/2023 Panic Line's sound is a throw back to the sounds of Television,Pavement and Sonic Youth for those of you eclectic ninjas out there, this is def worth a listen YESTERDAY'S KILL is streaming across all platforms and if you want to buy the discography of the band, BANDCAMP is offering all the releases for just ten dollars. Here's the first video and single for I SIMPLY EXIST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWIIwtws7nU Panic Line started in 2018 as a three-piece punk rock outfit out of Hamilton, Ontario. They quickly released a 6-song EP, cleverly titled “I Had Fun… But I’m Ready To Go”, did some local interviews (93.3 CFMU-FM, VIEW magazine) and played some shows in the surrounding GTHA. Feedback was positive and things were looking good. The group was evolving their sound, releasing a handful of one-off singles in 2019 that showed their maturity and growth as a band. While preparing to record their debut album in early 2020, the pandemic hit. Unsure of their future, Panic Line went through several changes – losing their ability to play shows, have their regular weekly band practice/hangouts and eventually having one of their core members decide to leave the group. The remaining duo, drummer Darren Turkiewicz and singer/guitarist Gage Cuncic decided to soldier on. They utilized much of the Spring and Summer of 2020 working separately on demos, sending files back and forth via email and fine tuning the music. They eventually made it out to Tweedside Studios (Stoney Creek, ON) in the fall of 2020 to properly record the album. While recording initially proceeded without a hiccup, a week into the project Gage was involved in a brutal car crash. He was hit from behind by a distracted driver while literally turning into the studio’s parking lot. Both cars were totaled but thankfully no one was hurt, and after a few hours delay – recording continued. This type of bad luck seemed to continue for most of the project. A month after the basic tracks were completed, Gage’s dad passed away from cancer. Grief stricken, dealing with the loss of a parent and having to sell a childhood home – the recording ground to a halt for most of 2021. The pandemic, of course, continued to rage on; leaving Panic Line to wonder whether it was even worth it to continue with the project at all. It was only in going back to the recordings a year later, listening to what they had captured and feeling like the music deserved to be heard, that Gage and Darren decided to finish the album. The heartbreak, loss and grief that was experienced throughout the writing and recording of this album should be obvious from first listen. Even the title of the record (and first song) speaks to this: “Yesterday’s Kill”… you can't live in the past – embrace the present, and move on. Life’s too short to do anything else. “Yesterday’s Kill” will be self-released on June 23rd. The cover art is a picture Gage found while clearing out his parent’s house in 2021. It is a photo he took of his parents, who are now both deceased. Blood, sweat, and tears were shed in the making of this album – it is an honest artistic statement about sticking to your guns and persevering through the tough times that we all experience in this life.
