I think it's funny that this story has gotten this much traction, but I guess we're doing our part to add to it.  Lil Wyte was arrested recently on a "theft" charge that he has since been cleared of.  While his car was in for repairs, he had a rental that was eventually reported stolen after some miscommunication.  He was out on tour, and after one of his employees failed to return the rental car, a warrant was issued.  You can see and hear his side of the story in the article below.  Scroll down a little further for the 3 minute video news story. From MyFoxMemphis.com:
Just one day after being placed behind bars, Memphis rapper Patrick “Lil Wyte” Lanshaw is opening up about the warrant that was issued for his arrest. Lanshaw was wanted for theft of property between $10,000-60,000. He was accused of stealing a rental car from Hertz, and he told FOX13 that couldn’t be further from the truth. “I got a call from Hertz. They said ‘you know we need the car back, or we’re going to report it stolen,’” Lanshaw said. The car was rented from the Hertz location on Covington Pike in early August. Lanshaw told FOX13 his insurance company got his a rental from the store while his vehicle was getting repaired. Police originally said the car was supposed to be returned a day after it was rented, but Lanshaw said that was not the case. In fact, he said there was no time limit set for the rental. “They even told me in the beginning, we will pay for this amount of days (and) any days you go over you have to pay. It’s your responsibility. Cool. I totally understand that,” Lanshaw said. Weeks went by, and then Lanshaw was contacted by the rental company. He said at that point an agreement was made on when to return the vehicle. When it came time to return it, Lil Wyte was out of town. He told FOX13 the person he assigned to take it back did not do the job. “There was supposed to be someone returning it that didn’t. They are fired now,” Lanshaw said. When he returned to Memphis, Lanshaw told FOX13 he immediately took the car back. He then learned there was a warrant out for his arrest because it had been reported stolen by the rental company. “Apparently the warrant was issued the next day,” Lanshaw said. “So whether it was in their system or not, it was on their lot before the warrant was issued.” While the car was off Hertz lot longer than expected, Lanshaw told FOX13 it was returned and he paid all of the money he owned in full, before the warrant was issued. “Clearly the car was on their lot, and my bank statements show I paid the money.”
