So a few days back, Lil Jon made an appearance on The Breakfast Club, and let's just say that what he said about the origins of Crunk caused a little controversy. Fans were citing Three 6 Mafia, stating that they were the true originators of the sound, leading the conversation to a somewhat viral moment. This led to Lil Jon and DJ Paul jumping on a video chat to clear the air. They said straight up, the argument ain't about who said the word "crunk" first, but more so about who created the sound. Jon gave the crown to Three 6 Mafia and Memphis for creating the original sound—that hard-body fight music that makes the club go crazy and tear stuff up. Lil Jon clarified his own prior comments, explaining he was talking about how Master P's track “Bout It, Bout It” killed bass music in Atlanta clubs, which set the stage for that Crunk energy to take over. In addition, Lil Jon stated he wants to throw a massive "Crunk Kings of the South" tour with Three 6 Mafia to bring that high-octane energy back to the game. They also shouted out the young heads for both evolving and keeping the sound alive, specifically giving Waka Flocka the credit for bringing that energy back for a minute. After showing each other major love, they left no doubt: the kings are united, and that energy never truly dies! This conversation is definitely a monumental moment for the record books, so make sure to peep the fresh-ass conversation. [embed]https://youtu.be/hxrxAIGyipo?si=CNf0deL_8CJCXhBW[/embed]
